Description

The charismatic butterfly - pollinating our crops and gardens, feeding wildlife, and providing a glimpse of joy and whimsy - has a special home in New Mexico. In fact, New Mexico contains nearly half of all the butterfly species in the United States! Yet butterflies are in trouble, their populations declining by more than one third in the Southwest over the last several decades. This spring, the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation will share how we can all take action to reverse butterfly losses, starting in our own communities and backyards.

About the Presenter:

Jacqueline Buenrostro is a Pesticide Program Specialist for the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation. In this role, she has the great joy of helping concerned residents, community leaders, and elected officials implement conservation efforts that work for people and pollinators. When she is not advocating for invertebrates, you can find her enjoying a walk in the woods or playing with her collection of pressed plants.
