Description

Join us for a BioBlitz at the Pajarito Environmental Education Center as part of the global City Nature Challenge in April, a friendly competition where communities around the world work together to document local biodiversity.

Become a Community Scientist and help us record as many species as possible around the Los Alamos Nature Center, Kinnikinnick Park, and Acid Canyon trail. Guided walks with local experts will be held throughout the morning and will explore the trails and habitats around the nature center in groups to observe birds, plants, insects, and more. Whether you join a guided walk or stop by the patio for help identifying your discoveries individually, this is a fun way to explore nature, learn from local experts, and contribute to real scientific data.

Participants are encouraged to download the free iNaturalist app before arriving so they can easily photograph and upload their observations during the event. We will be using iNaturalist to record our species observations to contribute to a worldwide community science database used by researchers, land managers, and nature enthusiasts.
