Description

Join ecologist Bridget Bloodwood for an insect exploration around PEEC and the Kinnikinnik Trail! We'll use nets and our observation skills to search for insects, learning how to identify them and examining their anatomy, behavior, and habitats.

This will be an easy, slow-moving outing with less than a mile of walking. We'll explore the areas around PEEC and Kinnikinnik Trail, stopping often to investigate insects and their habitats. PEEC will provide insect nets, but participants should bring water, sunscreen, and curiosity. Space is limited, so please register in advance.

What to Bring:

Water and snacks
Sturdy walking shoes and rain gear (it’s monsoon season!)
Binoculars and cameras (recommended!)
Insect net (optional)

Trail Info:
The hike will be easy overall, but includes some uneven and loose terrain. Be prepared for light off-trail walking in a natural setting.

About the Presentor: Bridget L Bloodwood, MS, is an environamental professional and forest ecologist. She currently works at Los Alamos National Laboratory as a forest health professional.
