Description

Join PEEC and the Los Alamos Mountaineers for the September Mountaineers meeting and presentation. There will be a mountaineers meeting at the beginning of the event (about 15 minutes), then we'll hear a talk by James Hunter and Beth Cortright about their recent mountaineering/caving/sightseeing trip to Morocco. You can view the presentation in person at the Los Alamos Nature Center or from home via Zoom (slides and audio only). Please register in advance.

About the presentation:

In May 2022, James Hunter and Beth Cortright joined two of their friends on a tour around central and western Morocco. They climbed the highest mountain in northern Africa, Mount Toubkal, and visited three caves in the Atlas Mountains. James and Beth will show photos and share stories of their travels in the cities, towns, and mountains of Morocco, where they stayed in Riads, shopped in colorful markets, and ate many meals on rooftops.

About the speaker:

James Hunter is a life-long resident of Los Alamos, active in rock climbing, caving, hiking, and many other outdoor activities. Beth Cortright has lived in Los Alamos for 10 years. She enjoys hiking, climbing, caving, and backpacking.
