Join PEEC for a showing of the award-winning film, The Martian. Did you know that the screenwriter, Drew Goddard, grew up here in Los Alamos? The film was greatly influenced by Goddard’s upbringing, and he’s stated that the movie is “a love letter to scientists.” While the astronauts in the movie don’t get around to growing hatch chiles, their success with potatoes influenced us to include a potato chip bar! Doors for the chip bar open at 5:30pm, and the movie will begin at 6pm.
About the Movie: When astronauts blast off from the planet Mars, they leave behind Mark Watney (Matt Damon), presumed dead after a fierce storm. With only a meager amount of supplies, the stranded visitor must utilize his wits and spirit to find a way to survive on the hostile planet. Meanwhile, back on Earth, members of NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring him home, while his crew mates hatch their own plan for a daring rescue mission.
Seating in the planetarium is limited to 50 people, so we encourage you to register and purchase your ticket in advance!
Admission: $8
