Nature Play Camping Trip

New to Camping with Kids? Join our Nature Play Camping Trip (Overnight Stay Optional)!

PEEC is hosting a beginner-friendly camping trip designed just for families. Learn from other families and build a community for camping. We will go over how to choose a campsite, how to set up a tent, and how to keep the kiddos entertained.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. 

Gear Support:
Don’t have all the gear? No problem! PEEC has a limited number of backpacks, tents, and sleeping bags to loan. A recommended gear list will be emailed a week before the trip, and we’ll share tips to help you prepare. You're encouraged to bring your own gear if you have it.

Meet-Up Details:
Ponderosa Campground, White Rock, NM
Meet Friday at 4 PM | Check-out Saturday at 10 AM

What to Expect:
We'll gather at the campground Friday afternoon to talk about camping tips and etiquette. Then we’ll set up tents, cook dinner (smores are the only food provided by PEEC), and settle in for the night. Please bring a picnic-style dinner and breakfast if you are new to camp cooking. If you are a camp chef, bring your set-up so we can learn from you! :) On Saturday morning, we'll make breakfast and take a short optional hike. Gear borrowed from PEEC will be returned afterward at the nature center, 2600 Canyon Rd. 

We want to set you up for camping success. No stress! If you need to leave at any time, feel free to do so. We'll take down your tent in the morning for you.

Participant Readiness:
To join the full backpacking experience, participants should:

• Bring a rain jacket or poncho

• Snacks

If you’re not quite there yet—no worries! We’ll send recommendations for easy, kid-friendly hikes and gear tips so you can get ready and feel confident.
