Description

Los Alamos County is poised on the cusp of an energy shift. Smart grid technology that includes distributed energy storage, generation and smart energy controls are just over the horizon and within our grasp. Our current energy mix on our municipal grid is a combination of coal, hydro, utility scale solar and some distributed solar generation.  What would it take to move us off fossil fuels entirely? How would this impact our rates and what would the long term costs be? Where does conservation and energy efficiency fit into this future plan?  What are the consequences of not transitioning and continuing on our current energy path? The collective will and intelligence of this community can push the envelope and help move us toward a cleaner more sustainable future. Join the disucssion on this interesting topic!
