Description

Esteemed guest Jack Loeffler will introduce the film and answer questions at this special screening of "Wrenched".

"Wrenched" reveals how Edward Abbey forever changed the course of the environmental movement. Tapping Abbey's anarchistic spirit and humor, "Wrenched" explores the history of monkeywrenching and the motivation behind these acts. It features candid interviews with Abbey's close friends, those who inspired his most memorable characters.

Outraged by the degradation of the American Southwest, they pioneered a radical form of environmental activism, a blueprint for "wrenching the system." Abbey's writing became a call to action for the generation of conservationists who came of age in the '70s and '80s. Wrenched follows the exploits of these determined monkeywrenchers as they cross legal and ethical lines to defend the land.

Ed Abbey and Jack Loeffler were compañeros for decades. Ed asked Jack to be his 'chroniclar', and after Ed's death, Jack wrote 'Adventures with Ed: A Portrait of Abbey' published by UNM Press. Jack will introduce "Wrenched", and will thereafter talk about Ed's legacy, and answer any questions from the audience that he can.
